“While tiny feet speak ‘thaiyum thatha thayum thaam’, their rhythm is interrupted by curious questions and fleeting thoughts: Can we do frog race? When is the next water break? Am I doing the step correctly? Do you know next week is my birthday?

Twenty years have passed in a journey of listening and sharing, of patience and impatience, of pride and privilege, of learning and teaching. Conversations have also matured …

The seniors ask about life? What career to choose? What motivates one to dance? When they could do their arangetrams? And when they do, could they serve pumpkin halwa for dinner?!

Every conversation is a seed, a seed that has the potential to expand into infinite space and serve others for eternity!”

It is these conversations that bring
Srikalaranga to life!

‘Conversations’ is hence the theme for Srikalaranga’s annual day celebration that marks 20 years of the school. We have selected a few conversations from mythology like the dialogue between Ganesha and Veda Vyas, Shuka and Indra, Shiva and Nandi, Hanuman and Ravana, Krishna and Radha, to name a few. As young minds try to comprehend the world, I believe this theme will help them internalise both the intellectual and emotional aspects of conversations which involve, listening, empathising, expressing, asserting and of course playing with words.

“Akka, I like being on stage.
When are we going to perform next?”

20th Annual Day Production

For 20 years, Srikalaranga has thrived on the vibrant and curious conversations that bring our dance school to life. From a young student’s playful inquiry about adding an 8-8 thattadavu, to a senior student questioning why dance wasn’t pursued full-time, to a little girl marveling at a teacher’s ability to jump high, these interactions reflect the joy and spirit of our dance school. Whether it’s the playful requests for frog race or the insistence on starting with Namaskar, these exchanges embody the heart of our school.

This year’s Annual Day celebration, centered around the theme “Conversations,” aims to help young minds internalize both the intellectual and emotional facets of conversations through the portrayal of Mythology and History. We emphasize listening, empathizing, expressing, asserting, and the playful use of words.

Cheer for us and contribute in celebrating these voices and stories on the 16th of November at Narada Gana Sabha (Main Hall).

We look forward to celebrating with you!
